the Father’s heart at a gainseville walmart

a lil backstory:: i’m living in gainseville, georgia!! WOW! i moved into my new home just a few days ago with 11 other women who are also doing CGA this semester! what a dream! i’m in a room with two other women and they’re some of the coolest people everrrr i can’t believe we get to do life together!!

my roommates (!!!!) and i went out and did some shopping the other day. you know, just normal adult things. we stopped at walmart to pick up some things and when i pulled into the parking lot, i saw a man sitting on a curb.

go talk to him.

there it is. that familiar tug on my heart. that still small sweet voice pushing me to step out in faith. that feeling that makes you so nervous but so excited. those chills that go up and down my legs.

while my friend was grabbing things in walmart, i walked over to talk to this man.

i’m walking over, heart pounding, wondering what i was even going to say.

his man is David. he’s a man that seeks his heavenly Father’s perspective in everything. David has been homeless for a few years and told me about his family and some health issues he’s been struggling with recently.

what blew me away was how he would tell me some of his story, a story that to most of the world would say is pretty hopeless, David would always say “but i thank the Lord for everything He’s given me, even the hard things.”

David is a man with a heart of genuine gratitude; when i told him that he laughed and said, “well when it comes down to it, you can either have a bad attitude or be full of gratitude. you might as well be thankful for what you’ve got!” some gentle wisdom from my new friend, David.

the conversation i had with  David in the Walmart parking lot absolutely blew me away and encouraged me beyond words. i was able to pray blessings on blessings over this man and tell him things the Lord had put on my heart for me to share.

so be listening to that sweet quiet voice! don’t be afraid to seek out a David! you never know what goodness will come from it:)

here’s to boldness and obedience!! and gratitude and goodness!!

much love,

maddie
